Lil Bit Confused

Today, we drove into the next city over to attend a fundraiser concert for LLL at a coffee shop. First, we went by Ornamentea, the local bead shop owned by a fabulous baby-wearing, breastfeeding mama! I only needed to pick up a few specific things for a couple of necklaces in progress so it was a quick trip without much browsing. E had fallen asleep on the ride into the city and was resting in the car when we got there but woke up while I was shopping. She said, "mama, i need some beadings!" of course, my daughter.

So, we drove over to the coffee shop. When we walked in, i thought it odd that no music could be heard. And, where were all the fellow baby-wearing breastfeeders (aka my people)? Maybe there's a back room, hubby said. Nope. Totally confused and feeling a bit out of place by now, hubs and i decide i should bug someone about using their computer to double-check the location. But, I KNOW i am in the right place! So, I ask a kind looking person and she totally agrees and understands. But, alas, she has no internet connection. The guy next to her was way into his headphones so I ask another man who is leaning back away from his computer. He tells me that it's a business computer that he only uses for work and doesn't ever check his own e-mail on it. So, I way, well can i look up a website called mothering.com instead? He agrees without too much annoyance in his disposition. We quickly learn that yes, i am in the right place but on the wrong DAY! The concert is tomorrow! Genius.

We ate burritos next door, drove by a friend's apartment but couldn't remember the passcode to get up the stairs and then went to crash another friend's house. He and his girlfriend's dog were both home and entertained us. Our other friend came home and let E feed his fish, which she totally enjoyed. (Somewhere along the way she learned that penguins eat fish and has been going to the fish store to get fish for fluffy the penguin and recently exclaiming the word, "fishing" loudly and with a grin. Rather odd behavior for a vegan babe, but her boyfriend is working on her about how bad fishing is for the fish and the oceans.) After a rousing game of dominoes and a few tortilla chips, we got to see said girlfriend for a bit at a little smoke free bar where all the staff drooled over a toddler drinking water out of a mini beer glass on a bar chair. After crashing the beginning of their date, we headed home thankful for friends who we can drop in on unannounced and still be welcomed.
