Special Dolls

Maya and Kim Chee

These precious dolls were part of a wonderful barter one year ago.  A dear friend was planning a homebirth where I longed to be her support person in any way she wanted.  She chose me as her doula.  As her beautiful childcare space came to an end, she had many toys to part with from the closing.  So, in exchange for getting to be her labor assistant, I received a hug box of gifts for our homeschooling journey.  Included were these precious dolls and their full wardrobes, including hats and socks even.

They were held onto for a while before being presented to my two little loving hearts.  Glammy happened to be here on that day so she helped to name the dolls, Maya and Kim Chee.  Fitting names, we all agreed.  We'd just returned from a week in Korea where we'd filled our bodies with kimchi.

Over a year later, we are thankful for the precious dolls that came to live with us.  This is especially becoming clear to us as we prepare to say, "see you later" to the family who gifted us.  They are heading West for a grand adventure this summer and we may not see them, again until the winter.  Having a daily reminder of their care for us will be special as we miss them.
